Jamalpur: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today pledged that if elected, government employees’ salaries will be determined by their qualifications, duty, and responsibility, emphasizing fairness and meritocracy in public service. ‘We will not provide equal salaries; instead, we will determine salaries based on respect for their qualifications and responsibilities,” he told a rally this afternoon at the Shinghajani Bohumukhi High School field in Jamalpur.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur highlighted the vital roles played by the police, who work tirelessly round the clock to protect citizens, stating that their compensation should not be the same as that of ordinary employees who work for eight hours. He asserted that comparing police to ordinary workers was unjust and emphasized the importance of fairness in salary determination based on duty.
Jamaat Chief Dr. Rahman also stressed the importance of mutual support in building a just and unified country, urging sincere cooperation from all citizens without political bias. He emphasized that the military and police, committed to protecting the nation, should not be compared with other professions, underscoring their dedication to safeguarding Bangladesh.
Reflecting on the devastating floods of May 2022, Dr. Shafiqur shared his experiences visiting affected areas in Jamalpur, criticizing the government’s response and highlighting the importance of compassion and commitment in public service. He reiterated his party’s promises, including establishing special economic zones, flood prevention measures, and creating job opportunities for women.
Dr. Rahman assured the public that their taxes would be dedicated to public welfare, rejecting corruption or mismanagement. He envisioned a society where citizens’ rights are respected, promoting unity, justice, and equality. He called for empowering youth through employment opportunities and social justice.
He concluded his speech with a commitment to protect the honour and safety of mothers, ensuring they are respected and their contributions valued.
