Jashore: Imams can play a key role in ensuring the success of the upcoming referendum, as stated by Jashore Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan. He emphasized that the referendum is a state responsibility that requires transparent and credible execution through active public participation.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Deputy Commissioner Hasan addressed a district-level imams' conference organized by the Islamic Foundation Jashore. The conference aimed to promote awareness and voter motivation for the referendum. Hasan acknowledged imams as influential and trusted societal figures capable of raising public awareness through pre-Khutba messages during Friday prayers.
The event took place at the Ad-Din Sakina Medical College auditorium and featured Jashore Superintendent of Police Syed Rafikul Islam as a special guest. Islam highlighted the necessity of maintaining a peaceful environment during the referendum, noting that while law enforcement agencies would remain vigilant, public cooperation is vital for a smooth process.
Chaired by Mohammad Mohiuddin Majumder, Director of the Islamic Foundation Khulna Divisional Office, the gathering included senior government officials, religious leaders, and journalists from various upazilas of the district.
