Dhaka: A Dhaka court today imposed a travel ban on former state minister for primary and mass education Zakir Hossain's wife Suraia Sultana, daughter Zakia Tabassum, and son Safayet bin Zakir. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the orders, allowing three separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the anti-graft body, in its petitions, stated that they have issued asset declaration notices against Suraiya Sultana, Zakia Tabassum, and Safayet bin Zakir. This action follows preliminary findings of illegal wealth accumulation and their involvement in assets acquired by the former state minister.

Reliable sources indicate that the trio may attempt to leave the country, prompting authorities to seek a court order to restrict their foreign travel. The travel ban aims to ensure a proper investigation into the allegations against the family members of the former state minister.
