Sirajganj: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today announced that his party intends to form an inclusive government encompassing all sections of society if it is elected to power. “If we get the opportunity to govern, Insha’Allah we will form a government taking everyone along. United efforts are needed to move the country forward,” he stated at an election rally held at Islamia Government College ground in Sirajganj district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Shafiqur Rahman emphasized the party’s commitment to ensuring justice for all, regardless of religion or ethnicity. He noted that establishing justice within the judicial system would expedite the country’s overall development. Dr Shafiqur also highlighted plans for reforms in the health sector, promising the implementation of a quality health policy to enhance public health if Jamaat assumes power.

Addressing the issue of river erosion affecting Sirajganj, he pledged to dredge the Jamuna River, reinforce its embankments, and ensure effective river management to facilitate development in the area. Furthermore, Dr Shafiqur vowed to meet national demand through Sirajganj’s milk production and committed to supporting the district’s handloom workers.

He stressed that Jamaat would not tolerate irregularities, corruption, theft, or extortion, urging voters to reject corrupt candidates in the upcoming election. Dr Shafiqur also promised that if Jamaat and the associated 10-party alliance come to power, women would be provided security in various settings, alongside initiatives for their overall development.

Dr Shafiqur called on voters to support the July Memorandum by voting ‘Yes,’ asserting that it would facilitate justice for the July martyrs, including Osman Hadi. He criticized those campaigning for ‘No,’ labeling them as agents of Indian influence and urging their rejection in the election.

The rally, organized by Sirajganj district Jamaat in anticipation of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, was presided over by District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Shahinur Alam. Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat and candidate for Sirajganj-4, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, addressed the rally as a special guest, alongside other candidates from the 10-party alliance.

The event saw participation from various party units, with supporters marching to the venue, chanting in favor of Jamaat’s election symbol. By afternoon, the rally attracted a significant crowd, with separate arrangements made for women attendees. Dr Shafiqur Rahman concluded his speech in the afternoon and later participated in a roadside meeting in Ullapara to support Jamaat-nominated candidate Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan.
