Naogaon: A tragic accident claimed the lives of a woman and her daughter when a truck collided with the motorbike they were riding near the Nazipur municipal bus stand area in Patnitala upazila of Naogaon on Monday evening.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the victims were identified as Khadija Akter, aged 28, and her 9-year-old daughter, Fatema Jannat. They were residents of Usthii village. The incident occurred when Kawsar Rahman, Khadija’s husband, was returning home from Nazipur market with his family on a motorbike. He lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid a battery-run auto-rickshaw, leading to the bike falling on the road. A timber-laden truck coming from Sapahar then ran over Khadija and Jannat, resulting in their immediate deaths.

The tragedy sparked outrage among locals, who reacted by vandalizing the truck and attacking the driver. Inspector Md Abu Taleb of Patnitala Police Station stated that police arrived at the scene to recover the bodies. As the family did not file a complaint, the bodies were released to them following legal procedures without conducting a post-mortem.

The truck has been seized, and the driver is currently in police custody. A case has been filed in connection to the incident, ensuring that legal actions are being pursued.
