Two-Day Workshop on Election-Time Journalism Concludes in Khulna

Khulna: A two-day workshop focused on election-time journalism concluded in Khulna, emphasizing the need for objectivity and brevity in reporting during the electoral period. Additional Divisional Commissioner of Khulna, Muhammad Asadul Haque, highlighted these points during his address as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The event was organized by the Press Institute of Bangladesh and took place at the Khulna Circuit House.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Haque urged journalists to avoid unnecessary analysis and excessive wording, stressing the importance of clear and concise presentation of information to maintain transparency and minimize confusion. He emphasized the critical role journalists play in raising public awareness and encouraging informed voting decisions. Haque also noted that courageous reporting on issues like injustice, corruption, and irregularities can assist the administration in taking effective action.



The workshop included contributions from resource persons such as Sultan Mahmud Badal, Deputy Editor of the Daily Amar Desh, freelance journalist Ziaur Rahman, and journalist and teacher Nazia Afrin Monami from the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. The program was moderated by Sanowar Shahin of PIB and featured speeches from Enamul Haque, Convener of the Khulna Press Club, Rafiqul Islam Tutul, Member Secretary, Mohammad Rashidul Islam, President of the Metropolitan Journalists’ Union, Khulna, and its General Secretary Abdur Razzak Rana.



In total, 50 journalists from various media outlets participated in the workshop held at the Circuit House conference room. Additionally, 45 journalists from nine upazilas in the district attended a separate session at the Humayun Kabir Balu Auditorium of Khulna Press Club. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participating journalists by the chief guest.
