Separate Road Accidents Claim Two Lives in Chattogram

Chattogram: Two individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents in different upazilas of Chattogram district today. The victims were identified as Abdur Rahman, a resident of South Alinagar in Mirsarai upazila, and Arif, son of Abdur Shukkur from Rahmatghona in Uttar Madarsha Union under Satkania upazila.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abdur Rahman, a 42-year-old pedestrian, was killed when a gas cylinder-carrying vehicle overturned in the Mirsarai area this morning. The accident also left the driver and the helper of the vehicle seriously injured. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kumira Highway Police Station, Zakir Rabbani, reported that the incident occurred around 7:30 am on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai’s Nizampur area. The truck, carrying an LPG cylinder, lost control and overturned, hitting Rahman, who was visually impaired and begging at the spot. Rahman died instantly, while the driver and helper sustained critical injuries and were transported to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital. Their identities remain unknown.



In a separate incident, Md. Arif, a 19-year-old biker, died after falling off his motorcycle and being hit by a truck in the Fatiyabad area along the Chattogram-Hathazari road. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raozan Highway Police, Mohammad Ullah, confirmed the accident, stating that it occurred around 10 am near Fatehabad Girls High School in Chikandandi union of Hathazari upazila. Arif was accompanying his uncle Mamun to a family event in Nandirhat when a rickshaw overturned, causing Mamun to brake suddenly. This led Arif to fall onto the road where he was struck by a passing truck. The truck driver fled the scene, and Arif was rushed to CMCH with critical injuries, where he was declared dead by the on-duty doctors.
