Gaibandha: Asif Sarker, former president of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League district unit, was arrested by Detective Branch (DB) police on Wednesday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer in Charge (OC) of DB police, Nazrul Islam, stated that Asif was linked to several cases, including sabotage. Asif went into hiding after the July mass uprising and was a wanted criminal by the police.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a drive and arrested him from his house located at College Para in the town on Wednesday night, OC Islam said. Following his arrest, DB police handed him over to Sadar Thana police for the next lawful action.
