Sylhet: BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to kick off his election campaign in Sylhet with prayers at the mazars of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) on January 22. Enthusiasm is high among party leaders and supporters as they prepare for his visit.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Sylhet District and Metropolitan units of BNP have been making extensive preparations to ensure the visit's success. A preparatory meeting was held at the Sylhet Metropolitan BNP office, chaired by acting President Rezaul Hasan Koyes Lodi and conducted by General Secretary Imdad Hossain Chowdhury. The meeting was attended by several prominent BNP figures, including Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir, the BNP candidate for Sylhet-1 constituency, and former Metropolitan BNP President Nasim Hossain.

Speakers at the meeting emphasized the need for unity among party workers to transform the Aliya Madrasa rally into a significant event. They noted the importance of this visit, as it marks the beginning of Tarique Rahman's election campaign as party chairman. The leaders and activists are keenly anticipating his arrival and are committed to creating a disciplined environment for the event.

The meeting highlighted the historical significance of Sylhet in the party's electoral campaigns. BNP's founder, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia both began their presidential election campaigns from Sylhet. Continuing this tradition, Tarique Rahman will also launch his campaign from Sylhet.
