Dhaka: The government has initiated a transfer of 96 probationary Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to different units and districts for a six-month practical training period. This decision, aimed at enhancing the practical skills of the newly trained officers, was formalized by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Baharul Alam, who issued the order yesterday.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training program is structured under Regulation 790 of PRB Volume-I and has received the necessary approvals from the Election Commission and the Home Ministry. This structured training is a critical phase for the ASPs as they transition from theoretical knowledge to practical, on-the-ground policing. The notification further mentioned that the ASPs will continue to receive their salaries and allowances from their respective units during this period.

The directive is to be implemented with immediate effect, ensuring that the ASPs commence their training without delay. Prior to this, the 96 ASPs successfully completed a comprehensive one-year basic training course at the Bangladesh Police Academy located in Sardah, Rajshahi, marking a significant milestone in their policing careers.
