Feni: A Feni court has issued an arrest warrant against 171 individuals, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the killing of a college student during the July Uprising. Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Hassan passed the order after accepting the chargesheet in the case.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the chargesheet was filed by sub-inspector Alamgir Hossain of the Feni Model Police Station, who is also the investigation officer of the case. Prominent figures among the accused include former Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, as well as Feni-2 MP Nizam Uddin Hazari and Feni-3 MP Masud Uddin.
The incident dates back to August 7, 2024, when Mahabubul Hasan Masum, a college student, succumbed to gunshot wounds he had received three days earlier during the July Uprising. Subsequently, Masum’s brother, Mohammad Mahmudul Hasan, filed a case with the Feni Model Police Station against 162 identified individuals and 400-500 unidentified people.
To date, authorities have arrested 39 individuals in connection with the case. The chargesheet, submitted on July 31, 2025, implicates a total of 221 people. The case continues to unfold as legal proceedings advance against those accused.
