Dhaka: Bangladesh Open University (BOU) today organized a condolence meeting to recall the life and contributions of former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. The mourning meeting was held this morning at the auditorium of BOU’s Central Conference and Training Centre.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, former BOU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. M. A. Bashar spoke at the programme as the key discussant with Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam in the chair. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof Sayeed Ferdous and Treasurer Prof Dr. Abul Hasnat Mohammad Shamim addressed the gathering as special guests. Registrar Prof M. Anisur Rahman moderated the session.
Prof Obaidul Islam highlighted Begum Khaleda Zia’s leadership in the restoration of democracy, her role in education and human resource development, and her contribution to the establishment of Bangladesh Open University, emphasizing their enduring significance in the nation’s history. He prayed for eternal peace of her departed soul and sought Jannat for her from the Almighty Allah.
