Dhaka: The government has given the green light to procure vaccines for the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) for the fiscal year 2026 through the Direct Procurement Method (DPM). This decision was made during the first meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs this year, which took place at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The session was chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the procurement will be part of a project titled "Loan 4078 (COL)/4079-BAN: Responsive COVID-19 Vaccines for Recovery Project under the Asia Pacific Vaccines Access Facility (APVAX)." The Health Services Division presented the proposal to the committee, which, after deliberation, recommended its approval in principle.
This strategic move is intended to streamline the acquisition of vaccines, ensuring that the EPI can continue to operate effectively throughout the current fiscal year.
