Khulna: Different ward units of Khulna City BNP organised doa mahfils and prayer meetings on Sunday seeking eternal peace of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. BNP nominee for Khulna-2 constituency and former lawmaker Nazrul Islam Manju attended the programmes as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, earlier in the day, Nazrul Islam Manju participated in the funeral prayer of national footballer and Khulna district team coach Md Dastagir Hossain Nira after Zuhr prayer at Kayemia Jame Mosque in the city. Subsequently, doa and memorial meetings were held after Asr and Maghrib prayers at various locations, organised by BNP and its associate bodies of Ward No 31 and 16.
At these programmes, special prayers were offered seeking forgiveness for the departed soul and for Begum Khaleda Zia to be granted Jannatul Ferdous. The events saw the participation of senior BNP leaders and activists, including Professor Arifuzzaman Apu, Nazrul Islam Babu, Asaduzzaman Murad, Anwar Hossain, and Advocate Golam Mawla.
