Paturia: Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route over the Padma River and the Aricha-Kazirhat route over the Jamuna River have been suspended due to dense fog, which has severely reduced visibility on the river routes. Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia route has remained suspended since 11:30 pm on Saturday, said Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Abdus Salam. He said dense fog has blanketed the river, reducing visibility to a dangerous level. To avoid accidents, ferry operations were suspended.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, five ferries – Bir Shreshtha Jahangir, Bir Shreshtha Ruhul Amin, Kumilla, Bhaigar and Shah Paran – are stationed at Paturia Ghat, while four ferries – Shah Enayetpuri, Language Martyr Shaheed Barkat, Hasna Hena and Khan Jahan Ali – are waiting at Daulatdia Ghat. Another ferry, Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman, remains anchored midstream in the Padma River with vehicles and passengers onboard.

Meanwhile, ferry services on the Aricha-Kazirhat route have remained suspended since 10:30 pm on Saturday as dense fog covered the Jamuna River. Ghat authorities said ferry operations on both routes will resume once visibility improves and the fog clears.
