Chattogram: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has stated that Begum Khaleda Zia will remain in the hearts of the people of Bangladesh for her contributions to the nation and her role during crises and disasters. Dr. Shahadat made these remarks during a Quran Khatam programme and Doa mahfil held for Khaleda Zia at the Kazir Deuri VIP banquet hall in the city, where food was distributed among orphans and distressed individuals.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mayor Shahadat emphasized Khaleda Zia’s contributions to establishing democracy, rule of law, justice, and fundamental rights, asserting that her legacy will inspire future generations. He highlighted Khaleda Zia’s deep connection to Bangladesh, underscoring her patriotism and the fact that she spent her final days in the country as a testament to her commitment.
The event was attended by notable figures including former General Secretary of city BNP Abul Hashem Bakkar, BNP candidate for Chattogram-9 constituency Alhaj Abu Sufian, City BNP Joint Convener Yasin Chowdhury Liton, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of CCC Md. Ashraful Amin, Chief Revenue Officer Sarwar Kamal, Chief Education Officer Dr. Kissinger Chakma, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, and City BNP Convener Anwar Hossain Lipu.
The doa mahfil was conducted by Md. Kamrul Islam, a member of the convening committee of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP.
