Kishoreganj: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has successfully apprehended three primary suspects in the murder of Khokon Das, a 50-year-old pharmacy owner and bKash agent, in Shariatpur. The suspects, identified as Sohag, Rabbi, and Palash, were captured based on the information provided by RAB-8 and its Intelligence Wing in Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a special operational team from RAB-14, CPC-2 (Kishoreganj Camp), led by Company Commander ASP Shahjahan, executed a raid in the early hours, around 1:00 am, in the Bajitpur area of Kishoreganj district, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Rawnak Jahan confirmed that before his demise, Khokon Das had identified the assailants by name. Khokon Das, son of Paresh Das, was a local medicine shop owner and mobile financial service (bKash) agent.
Police reports state that on the night of December 31, 2025, around 9:30 pm, Khokon Das was attacked while returning home from Keharbhanga Bazar. Near his residence in the Tilai area, he was ambushed by three to four unidentified individuals armed with sharp weapons, who inflicted severe injuries and looted the cash he was carrying.
Realizing that Khokon Das had recognized some of them, the attackers allegedly attempted to murder him by setting him on fire after pouring petrol over his body and face. Local residents, alerted by his screams, arrived at the scene, causing the attackers to flee.
Khokon Das, severely injured and burned, was initially taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital by locals. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
SP Rawnak Jahan noted that the arrested suspects are known in the locality for delinquency and are reportedly involved in drug abuse and other criminal activities.
