Dhaka: The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested six individuals in connection with the murder of a youth in the Pubail area of Gazipur. The arrests were made in the Narayanganj and Tongi East areas, and an easy-bike used in the crime was recovered. All the accused have been sent to court.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information was disclosed in a press release signed by Deputy Commissioner of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman. Police revealed that the murder was carried out following instructions from a Saudi expatriate, Arafat Hossain, 22. The other arrestees are identified as Taslima Akter, 18, Md Sakib Khan, 22, Nayan Mia, 22, Nuruzzaman Shyamol, 20, and Rakib Mia, 22.

DB sources indicated that Taslima Akter of Narayanganj had previously been in a relationship with the victim, Al Adiyat Sair, 17. During this time, Sair allegedly took and circulated objectionable photographs of her. Taslima later entered into a relationship with Arafat Hossain. Upon learning about the photos, Arafat reportedly assured her that he would handle the matter upon his return to Bangladesh.

DB sources further detailed that Arafat returned to the country on November 2, and the following day, Taslima accompanied the victim to the Purbachal 300-Feet area and subsequently to Ulukhola in Gazipur, where the other accused joined them. The victim was later killed in the Pubail area of Gazipur, and his body was discarded beside the Ghorashal-Tongi highway before the suspects fled the scene.
