Dhaka: As expected, zone-five (Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan) (BKSP) emerged as champions in the Aparajeyo Alo Women's Hockey tournament, defeating zone-two (Dhaka-Mymensingh) with a commanding 8-0 victory in the final match held at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the match was one-sided, with Kona Akter leading BKSP's charge by scoring four goals, including a hat-trick. Arpita Paul added two goals, while Nini Sen Rakhain and Tonni Khatun each contributed a goal to secure the win for BKSP.
In the first quarter, Arpita opened the scoring by converting a penalty corner in the 7th minute, followed by Kona's field goal in the 11th minute to double the lead. Arpita extended the advantage with another goal in the 14th minute, making it three for BKSP.
BKSP's dominance continued in the second quarter, with Nini and Tonni scoring in the 26th and 29th minutes, respectively. The third quarter saw Kona scoring her second goal in the 35th minute and completing her hat-trick in the 37th minute. Nini sealed the victory with the eighth goal in the 53rd minute.
Arpita emerged as the highest scorer of the tournament with 22 goals, while Riya from BKSP was named the player of the tournament. Moa from the Rajshahi district team received the best goalkeeping award, and Opurbo from Kishorganj was recognized as the rising star of the competition.
