Home Adviser Expresses Deep Sorrow Over Death of Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia

Dhaka: Home Affairs and Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the death of former prime minister, veteran politician, and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a condolence message issued today, the adviser prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family members. In his message, he described Begum Khaleda Zia as a three-time prime minister and a successful, honest, and ideal political leader.



He remarked on her remarkable role in the struggle to establish democracy, multi-party political culture, and the rights of the people in Bangladesh, asserting that her contributions would be remembered with due respect. The adviser emphasized that Begum Khaleda Zia was a unique symbol of struggle and resistance in the anti-fascist movement and that her uncompromising stance had greatly inspired the nation throughout its long democratic struggle.



He further noted that her passing has created a significant void in the country’s political arena, and the nation will remember her contributions with due honor. Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia passed away at around 6:00 am today while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
