Chittagong: Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Begum Khaleda Zia.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Supradip Chakma, in a condolence message, stated that Begum Khaleda Zia was a three-time elected prime minister of Bangladesh. He highlighted her significant role in the country’s transition to parliamentary democracy and national development, emphasizing that her contributions will be remembered. Chakma remarked that the nation has lost an experienced politician with her passing.
Supradip Chakma also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his deep condolences to Khaleda Zia’s bereaved family and political well-wishers. Begum Khaleda Zia, known for her unwavering commitment to democracy in Bangladesh, passed away this morning at the age of 80 while receiving treatment at a hospital in the city.
