Dhaka: Md Asaduzzaman, the 17th Attorney General of Bangladesh, has resigned from his position to participate in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Attorney General Md Asad Uddin confirmed that Md Asaduzzaman has signed his resignation letter, which is set to be forwarded to the President tomorrow.
Md Asaduzzaman, a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court, was appointed as the Attorney General on August 8, 2024. He is set to run as a BNP candidate from the Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency in the forthcoming elections.
Before his tenure as Attorney General, Md Asaduzzaman served in significant roles within the BNP. He held the position of Human Rights Secretary of the BNP Central Executive Committee and also served as an adviser to the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
