EC Approves Tarique Rahman’s Inclusion in Voter List

Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has officially approved the inclusion of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in the voter list, marking a significant development in his political journey.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer of the EC Secretariat, Ruhul Amin Mallick, confirmed the approval today. He stated, “The Election Commission has approved the inclusion of Tarique Rahman in the voter list,” indicating the completion of necessary procedures by Rahman for his voter registration and National Identity Card (NID) issuance at the Election Commission.

Earlier, on Saturday, Tarique Rahman arrived at the Election Training Institute (ETI) of the Election Commission in Agargaon at 1:00 PM to finalize his voter registration process. He departed from the ETI building at approximately 1:18 PM after completing all required procedures to include his name in the voter list, as confirmed by EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

He further mentioned, “BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman have completed the process by filling out and submitting the voter registration forms.” According to Section 15 of the Voter List Act, 2009, the Commission holds the authority to register any adult or eligible person as a voter. Based on this provision, Tarique and his daughter have been registered as voters for Dhaka Ward No. 19 (17th parliamentary constituency).

“This will be presented to the Commission on Sunday. They will be included in the voter list after the Commission’s decision,” he stated on Saturday, highlighting the procedural steps following the registration.
