Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has instructed the Local Government Division to carry out repairs and renovations on institutions or facilities designated as polling centres. This directive includes the installation or renovation of CCTV cameras and the repair of broken and narrow roads leading to these polling centres, all in preparation for the 13th parliamentary elections and referendum scheduled for February 12, 2026.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a letter outlining these directives was signed by Mohammad Monir, Deputy Secretary of Election Management-2 wing of the Election Commission Secretariat, and sent to the Secretary of the Local Government Division today. The letter specifies that approval from the Election Commission is not necessary for these activities, including the repair of polling stations, the installation or renovation of CCTV cameras, and the repair of roads leading to the polling stations.
