Dhaka: President Mohammed Shahabuddin and his spouse Dr. Rebeka Sultana hosted a reception for members of the Christian community at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban in celebration of Christmas Day, recognized as the most significant religious festival for Christians.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President exchanged greetings with leaders and representatives of the Christian community during the reception, which began at 12 noon. Religious Affairs Adviser to the Interim Government, AFM Khalid Hossain, was in attendance.
The President, alongside the guests, participated in the ceremonial cutting of a ‘Merry Christmas’ cake, while a cultural troupe entertained the attendees with Christmas carols. Notable figures such as Archbishop Bejoy Nicephorus D’Cruze, Bangladesh Christian Association President Nirmal Rozario, Father Albert Rozario, Reverend Martha Das, as well as foreign diplomats and representatives from various foreign missions, were present at the event.
Senior officials from Bangabhaban also attended, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
