Dhaka: For the first time, a professional from Bangladesh, Mahbub Ahmed Siddique, has been selected by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) as a member of the Professional Accountancy Organization Development and Advisory Group (PAODAG) for the 2026-2028 term. Mahbub Ahmed Siddique is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahbub’s selection followed a rigorous global competition conducted by the IFAC Nominating Committee. His forthcoming role includes offering strategic guidance and practical support to professional accountancy organizations worldwide. This initiative aims to enhance the sustainability and capability of these organizations to better serve the public interest, as highlighted in a press release.
This appointment not only underscores global recognition of Mahbub’s individual excellence, expertise, and professional experience but also elevates ICAB’s international standing. In addition to his role at ICAB, Mahbub serves as the ICAB-nominated director at the SAFA Foundation and the Marketing Director at Chartered Accountants Worldwide.
Beyond his responsibilities at ICAB, Mahbub Siddique is currently serving as the Assistant Executive Secretary of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) for 2025, a position nominated by ICAB. He is set to assume the role of Executive Secretary of SAFA in 2026.
