Dhaka: The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has announced an extension of the ’24th Young Artists’ Fine Art Exhibition’ by two additional days. The exhibition, initially set to conclude earlier, will now hold its closing ceremony on December 24 at 5:00 pm at the National Art Gallery Plaza.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the exhibition, which began on December 11, is accessible daily from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm across Galleries 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 of the National Art Gallery. This year, the exhibition attracted 1,393 submissions from 681 emerging artists, aged between 21 and 35. From these, a selection committee curated 215 artworks by 191 artists for display.
The exhibition showcases a broad spectrum of fine art mediums, including painting, sculpture, oriental art, crafts, ceramics, photography, installation art, performance art, and new media art. The concluding ceremony will be presided over by Shilpakala Academy Director General Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, also known as Rezauddin Stalin, who will unveil the exhibition catalogue.
The event will feature a review discussion by Jagannath University Assistant Professor and artist Mohammad Zahidul Haque. Additionally, Associate Professor of Dhaka University’s Fine Arts faculty, artist Reza Asad Al Huda Anupam, and artist Md Bazlur Rashid Shawon will serve as special guests. Abdul Halim Chanchal, Director of the Fine Arts Department, will deliver the welcome address.
The Young Artists’ Fine Art Exhibition is a staple in Bangladesh’s fine arts calendar. Since its inception in 1975, the exhibition has been a launching pad for many artists who have achieved both national and international recognition, thereby enhancing Bangladesh’s cultural prestige globally.
