Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 9.5 percent reaching US$2,172 million in the twenty days of December, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. Last year, during the same period, the country’s remittance inflow was $1,983 million.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the July to Dec 20, 2025 of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances of $15,211 million, which was $13,121 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year. This steady rise in remittance inflow signals a robust contribution from the Bangladeshi diaspora, which plays a critical role in the country’s economy. The increased inflow is seen as a positive indicator for the nation’s financial health and stability.

The remittance figures reflect the resilience of Bangladeshi expatriates and their commitment to supporting their homeland financially. The growth is also likely to bolster foreign exchange reserves, providing a cushion for the country’s economic activities. As the fiscal year progresses, Bangladesh Bank continues to monitor these trends, which are crucial for planning future economic strategies.
