Bogura: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the main suspect in the murder case of Chandana Rani, a housewife from Sariakandi upazila. The suspect, Kajal Chandra, 25, was apprehended from Rishipara in Hemayetpur under Savar Police Station in Dhaka district on Saturday afternoon. His arrest was confirmed by Lieutenant BN Wahiduzzaman, Company Commander of RAB-12, Bogura, on Sunday afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chandana Rani was married to Nayan Chandra about six years ago, but due to marital disputes, she moved back to her father’s house. Subsequently, Kajal Chandra allegedly convinced her to go with him to his residence and to Dhaka, promising marriage. On June 14, Chandana visited Kajal’s house, where she was allegedly tortured. She was reportedly given poisonous tablets and returned to her father’s home in an unconscious state. Her family admitted her to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Following her death, Chandana’s uncle lodged a murder case with Sariakandi Police Station. RAB-12, acting on confidential intelligence, discovered that Kajal Chandra was hiding in the Hemayetpur area of Savar. A coordinated operation by RAB-12 and RAB-4 led to his capture. The suspect has been transferred to Sariakandi Police Station for further legal proceedings.
