Jhenaidah: International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day was observed in Jhenaidah with a focus on the theme 'We will take our skills abroad, build our homeland with remittances.' The day commenced with a vibrant rally at 10:00 am from the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office, which traversed the main streets of the town before concluding back at the DC office premises.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rally was followed by a discussion meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office. The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner Md. Abdullah Al Masud as the chief guest. Other notable speakers included Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) ABM Khalid Hasan, Additional District Magistrate Subir Kumar Das, Additional Superintendent of Police Mahfuzur Rahman, President of Jhenaidah Press Club Asif Kajal, and Chief Instructor of Jhenaidah Technical Training Center Md. Asaduzzaman. The programme was presided over by Assistant Director of the District Employment and Manpower Office Md. Samiul Islam.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of International Migrants Day being observed nationwide, coupled with National Expatriates Day, to honor the remittance-earning Bangladeshis. He extended greetings and congratulations to expatriates both within the country and abroad, recognizing their vital contributions to Bangladesh's economy.
During the meeting, expatriate workers shared personal experiences and discussed the challenges they encounter. They urged authorities to implement prompt measures to resolve the issues faced by expatriates.
