Dhaka: Students in schools across the country are set to receive their textbooks on January 1, as announced by Mahbubul Alam Patwary, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahbubul Alam Patwary stated in an interview that preparations for the textbook distribution have been finalized. The printing of 30 crore textbooks for primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels is nearing completion. While a slight shortfall in textbooks is anticipated for classes seven and eight, 100 percent distribution is expected for all other classes.
Patwary shared that over 8.5 crore books for primary schools have already been completed, and this achievement was announced on the eve of the Victory Day. The successful preparation of such a large number of books ahead of the academic year is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the government, various ministries, dedicated personnel, and the support from press owners.
He further mentioned that books have already been delivered to some schools, with positive feedback received regarding their quality. The enhanced paper and printing quality this year will ensure that all primary books are distributed to students by January 1.
The focus is now on secondary schools, aiming to deliver 100 percent of books to classes six and nine by the same date. Efforts are also underway to provide soft copies of the books before classes commence, with plans to upload them to the NCTB website by January 28.
The NCTB is responsible for printing over 30 crore books this year, utilizing high-quality paper and an excellent printing process. A monitoring team, along with concerned officers, is overseeing the printing process to ensure the timely distribution of textbooks.
