Dhaka: The police have so far arrested 4,232 crime suspects in the nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2'. Under the operation, 2,042 individuals were arrested in the past 24 hours. Of these, 1,074 were captured in connection with previous cases and outstanding warrants, while 968 were apprehended on various criminal charges.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, law enforcement agencies seized a variety of weapons during the operation. The confiscated items include one pistol, one shotgun, one pipe gun, two magazines, 20 round cartridges, four exploded gas shells, two unexploded gas shells, four round bullets, nine crude bombs, and several local sharp weapons.
Additionally, the operation involved the search of 22,990 motorcycles and 1,904 cars. These searches resulted in the recovery of one shotgun, three improvised explosive devices (cocktails), four country-made weapons, and three rounds of ammunition. Five individuals were also arrested as a result of these vehicle searches.
