Faridpur: The provisions in the newly enacted Public Procurement Rules, 2025 (PPR, 2025) have been framed to enhance transparency, accountability, and competition in the process of public procurement. S. M. Moin Uddin Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer (Secretary) of the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA), emphasized this at a workshop on PPR, 2025 and electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) held in Faridpur today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop, organized by the BPPA at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in Faridpur, was managed by the Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP). During the event, the CEO urged tenderers and procuring entity (PE) representatives to review PPR, 2025 and provide feedback. He highlighted the inclusion of provisions aimed at encouraging women, small, and new entrepreneurs within the new rules.
BPPA Director and National Procurement Trainer, Shah Eyamin-Ul Islam, contributed to the formulation of PPR, 2025 and delivered a presentation focusing on its important rules and schedules. Over 60 representatives from procuring entities and tenderers in Faridpur participated in the session, which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Faridpur, Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Mollah.
The CEO also mentioned that the BPPA is conducting workshops across districts and upazilas to train PEs and tenderers on the new PPR, 2025, and to raise awareness about it and the amended PPA, 2006. He noted that the PPA, 2006 was amended through an ordinance in 2025, leading to the formulation of PPR, 2025 in place of PPR, 2008. The new rules and the amended act came into effect on September 28, 2025, and BPPA is disseminating PPR, 2025 nationwide through workshops.
BPPA has been actively conducting workshops on PPR 2025 and e-GP across the country to create awareness and build capacity.
