Dhaka: The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested a Chinese national and a Bangladeshi with 76 stolen mobile phones, mobile parts, and two cartons of syringes in the Bashundhara residential area. The arrested individuals have been identified as Wang Yujian, 33, and Alfat Hossain Shuvo, 26, according to a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) statement issued today.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrest was made following a joint raid conducted by two teams of the DB Cyber Unit at 11 pm yesterday in Bashundhara. The authorities managed to seize the stolen mobile phone sets, including 45 iPhones of different models and 31 Android phones of various brands. In addition to the phones, the police also recovered 10 mobile phone displays, a laptop, a mobile checkerboard, a phone battery booster, a phone toolbox, phone casings, two cartons of syringes, and a money-counting machine.

The statement further mentioned that the legal procedures have been completed, and the police produced Wang Yujian and Alfat Hossain Shuvo before the court. The incident has raised concerns about the security of the residential area and the illicit trade of stolen goods.
