17 Awami League Members Arrested in Jamalpur for Alleged Criminal Activities

Jamalpur: Police arrested 17 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its associate and front organizations in a day-long drive across the district on Thursday. Police said the arrestees were involved in criminal activities, including plotting to destabilize the present government following the ouster of the AL government.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrests were made in multiple upazilas within Jamalpur district. In Jamalpur Sadar upazila, Md Nure Alam Simanto, Md Nayeem, Mahabubur Rahaman Akanda, Ruhul Amin, Md Liton, and Mahmudul Hassan were apprehended by law enforcement officials.



In the Melandah upazila, Tipu Sultan and Md Shah Ali were taken into custody. Meanwhile, authorities arrested Md Nannu Parvez, Md Rakibul Hassan, Md Abdul Malek, Mir Raisul Islam Rasel, and Md Jahangir Alam in Madarganj upazila.



In Islampur upazila, Md Sonahar Sarkar and Md Khorshed Alam Hasmat were detained, while Md Rabiul Awal was arrested in Sarishabari upazila and Md Mahibul Islam in Bakshiganj upazila.



Inspector of Jamalpur Police Control Room, Md Golam Sarwar, stated that the arrested individuals were accused in various criminal cases filed with Jamalpur Sadar, Melandah, Bakshiganj, and Saris.
