Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the killing of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers in a terrorist attack on a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission Base in Sudan. In a statement issued today, he conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and injured persons.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated that the attack occurred on Saturday afternoon (local time) in the Abyei area of Sudan. The terrorist attack resulted in the martyrdom of six personnel and left eight others seriously injured.
Dr. Shafiqur condemned the attack, labeling it a crime against humanity. He emphasized the pride of the nation in the sacrifices made by Bangladeshi soldiers in their efforts to establish world peace.
The Jamaat Ameer highlighted the Bangladesh Army's commitment under the UN banner, noting their dedication and bravery in carrying out challenging duties in war-torn and conflict-prone regions globally. He expressed confidence in the Army's continued role in safeguarding Bangladesh's independence and contributing to international peace.
Dr. Shafiqur prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs' souls and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
