Bagerhat: 'July Janata' held a silent march here in the district this evening, condemning the assassination attempt on Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of Inquilab Mancha and an aspiring candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th parliamentary polls.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the protesters demanded immediate arrest of those responsible for the armed attack and security of the people who participated in the 2024 July Uprising that led to the ouster of fascist Sheikh Hasina. The silent procession began at 7:00 pm and marched peacefully through several important roads of Bagerhat city before ending at the Rail Road area.

Participants carried burning candles during the march, calling for a fair investigation and trial over the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi and urging the authorities to ensure the safety of July fighters. Leaders and activists of local units of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Islami Chhatra Andolan, UP Bangladesh, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti, National Citizen Party, and some other organizations attended the programme.

At the conclusion of the silent march, speakers said that July fighters are currently living under severe insecurity. They urged the government and the administration to take immediate steps to ensure their safety in the present situation. Notably, Osman Hadi came under attack in the capital's Bijoynagar area on Friday. He is currently receiving intensive care at Evercare Hospital.
