Dhaka: The Bangladesh Hockey Federation has decided to give a warm reception to the U-21 Youth hockey team and the Bangladesh Under-18 women's hockey team for their successes in the recently held two major tournaments. The day-long reception ceremony will be held on Monday (Dec 15) at Shaheen Dwip of the Air Force's Kurmitola base in the capital.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh U-21 hockey team won the challenger trophy of the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup by narrowly defeating Austria with a score of 5-4 in the place-deciding match for 17th and 18th positions. The match took place in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India earlier this month.
In a separate achievement, the Bangladesh Under-18 women's hockey team secured a historic bronze medal in their debut appearance at the U-18 Women's Asia Cup 2025. This tournament was held in Dazhou, China. The team clinched the bronze medal after a convincing 6-2 victory over Kazakhstan in the third-place decider.
