Khalishpur: BNP Student Affairs Secretary and Khulna-3 constituency candidate Rakibul Islam Bakul today emphasized the significant role of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in safeguarding democracy and promoting the spirit of the Liberation War.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bakul highlighted that Khaleda Zia’s health recovery is a national concern, transcending political affiliations. He portrayed her as a maternal figure to the country’s 180 million people, describing her as the “mother of the nation.” Bakul made these comments as the chief guest at a doa and exchange of views meeting organized by the Bagerhat District Welfare Association in Khalishpur, aimed at seeking Khaleda Zia’s recovery.
Bakul underscored Khaleda Zia’s unique position in the country’s history as the only woman to have served as prime minister three times. Her extensive experience in governance has positioned her as a central figure in national leadership. From her imprisonment during the 1/11 period to the present, she has led movements demanding the restoration of democracy. Bakul also highlighted her contributions to increasing women’s participation and empowerment in politics.
He noted that Khaleda Zia has been an inspiration for many women leaders and consistently prioritized the needs of the poor, laborers, farmers, and marginalized communities, reflecting the welfare-state ideals in her party’s policies.
Earlier, Bakul demonstrated adherence to the Election Commission’s directives by initiating the removal of banners and signboards after Jumma prayers. He visited different areas of the Khulna-3 constituency, removing his campaign materials with party leaders and activists, instructing them to comply fully with the directives.
