Dhaka: Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad emphasized that the quest for freedom remains unbroken, even in the face of immense violence, while addressing a mass rally and protest program held at Shahbagh in the capital. The event was organized by Inqilab Mancha to protest the attack on its Convener, Sharif Osman Hadi.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was presided over by Mahmudur Rahman, an Ekushey Padak-winning journalist and editor of the daily Amar Desh. The gathering also featured a speech from Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organizer for the southern region of the National Citizen Party. During his address, Barrister Fuaad underscored the importance of recognizing adversaries in the formation of a state or nation, lamenting that harmful entities had been misrepresented as allies over the past 54 years, thereby compromising national interests and dignity.

Fuaad further critiqued the opportunistic entities in political power, who he argued are disconnected from the nation’s historical struggles. He remarked that individuals who lack appreciation for the country’s long-standing history and sovereignty have risen to leadership positions within major political parties and are currently canvassing for votes.

He accused these groups of plotting to undermine the popular uprising through the upcoming parliamentary processes and alleged intentions to once again jeopardize Bangladesh’s interests in favor of foreign powers. He declared, “Our message is clear. Bangladesh will not return to the past of August 5. The Awami League will not be able to return to power.”

The speakers at the event called for the swift arrest and severe punishment of those responsible for the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi. Leaders and activists from Inqilab Mancha vowed to persist with their street protests until their demands are fulfilled.

Sharif Osman Hadi was severely injured after being shot by motorcyclists in the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area of the capital on Friday and is currently receiving medical treatment at Evercare Hospital.
