Dhaka: The Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has apprehended two individuals in possession of a substantial number of electronic devices at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The individuals, identified as Shaharun Ali, 38, and Md Iqbal Hossain Jibon, 35, were detained by the APBn based on intelligence reports.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mozammel Haque, who serves as the operational commander of the Airport Armed Police Battalion, stated that the arrests were made following a tip-off. The detained individuals were subsequently taken to the APBn office for further questioning. The police seized 76 digital electronic spy devices, 50 earpieces, three laptops, and six mobile phone sets from the suspects.
During the initial interrogation, Shaharun Ali confessed to importing the devices from China while circumventing customs duties. The authorities have filed a case against both individuals at the Airport Police Station.
