Dhaka: Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haq Nur today announced that road safety will be a key focus in the party’s manifesto for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Polls. He made this statement while at the party’s office in Bijoynagar, where he received a formal proposal from Dhaka Ahsania Mission and Road Safety Coalition Bangladesh. The proposal suggested including a “Road Safety Act” in the manifesto to ensure the safety of roads across the nation, as noted in a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nur emphasized the urgent need to address the high rate of road accidents in the country, which claims many lives daily. He called on everyone to contribute to efforts aimed at reducing these accidents. “Road safety is important for all. ‘Road Safety Act’ is essential to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads. Such a law would effectively reduce accidents and play a significant role in saving lives,” Nur stated.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Faruk Hasan, the senior vice-president of Gono Odhikar Parishad; Hasan Al Mamun, the party’s spokesperson and senior joint secretary general; Tariqul Islam, the advocacy officer (Communication) for Dhaka Ahsania Mission’s Road Safety Project; and Monwarul Islam, advocacy officer (Policy), among others.
