Three Dengue Patients Die, 421 Fresh Cases Detected Overnight

Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 421 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts, killing at least three persons in the past 24 hours. “We recorded deaths of three dengue patients in 24 hours ending at 8 am today,” a spokesman of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, adding his office simultaneously recorded 421 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts during the same period.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DGHS statistics show that one death occurred in areas within the purview of Barishal division and two in Dhaka South City Corporation. “Out of the 421 fresh cases, 64 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 63 in Chattogram division, 73 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 72 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 75 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 30 in Khulna division, 31 in Mymensingh division, 12 in Rajshahi division, and one in Rangpur division,” a DGHS statement said.



Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has so far witnessed 401 deaths, while the disease inflicted 98,705 people. The dengue outbreak last year claimed 575 lives and afflicted 101,214 people in the country.
