Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 has scheduled February 9 for the submission of the probe report in a case involving 45 individuals, including Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader and former law minister Anisul Huq. The case pertains to alleged crimes against humanity committed during the July Mass Uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision was rendered by a three-member tribunal bench led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mazumder. The tribunal granted a request from the prosecution for additional time to compile their findings.
Sixteen of the 17 arrested individuals were present in the tribunal during the proceedings. These individuals include Anisul Huq, Amir Hossain Amu, Shahjahan Khan, Qamrul Islam, Abdur Razzaque, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Golam Dastagir Gazi, Dipu Moni, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Salman F Rahman, Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik, Jahangir Alam, and Solaiman Salim. Lt Col (retd) Mohammad Faruk Khan was absent as he is currently receiving medical care in prison custody.
The tribunal had previously issued arrest warrants on October 17, 2024, for all 45 accused due to their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity linked to the July Mass Uprising. The ICT prosecution claims that investigators have already gathered evidence substantiating the allegations against the accused.
