Chattogram: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahhadat Hossain today directed the officials to remain careful about public suffering while carrying out development works. Referring to the ongoing work of sewerage projects of the Chattogram Wasa, the mayor emphasized that development workers should be careful not to dig or cut roads indiscriminately.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shahadat instructed that roads recently repaired or renovated by the CCC should not be cut. Instead, the focus should be on areas that genuinely require repair. He made these directives during a coordination meeting of the CCC Engineering Department held at CCC Bhavan this morning.
The Mayor directed the CCC engineers to collect the Detailed Technical Plan (DTP) of the project from the concerned organization and secure approval before proceeding to cut any road. This approach aims to prevent city dwellers from suffering due to haphazard and unplanned development work. He also warned that unplanned and disorganized execution of uplift schemes would lead to traffic congestion and hinder smooth movement within the city.
During the meeting, the latest condition of the Dewanhat over-bridge was also reviewed. The Mayor informed attendees that this over-bridge is a vital component of the city road network, but it is old and nearly in a dilapidated state. He highlighted the urgent need for repairs and proposed that an alternate facility should be developed in coordination with the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA).
Acting CEO of CCC Ashraful Amin, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, and senior officials were present at the meeting.
