Distribution of Seeds and Fertilizers Begins in Kurigram

Kurigram: The distribution of seeds and fertilizers for small and marginal farmers has officially begun in Phulbari upazila of the district. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dilara Akhter inaugurated the program at 11.30 am on the premises of the Upazila Agriculture Office.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Upazila Agriculture Office revealed that a total of 1,700 small and marginal farmers will receive Boro paddy seeds and fertilizers in phases under the government's agricultural incentive program. This initiative aims to support farmers in enhancing their agricultural productivity.

In detail, 500 farmers will be provided with 5 kg of Ufshi paddy seeds, 5 kg of DAP, and 5 kg of MOP fertilizer, while 1,200 farmers will receive 2 kg of hybrid paddy seeds each. The distribution is part of a wider effort to assist farmers in reducing production costs and boosting paddy production during the Boro season.

The inauguration event was attended by several key officials, including Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilufa Yasmin, Additional Agriculture Officer Rafika Akhter, Assistant Agriculture Extension Officer Shishir Kumar Kishore, Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Shahnaz Laiju Chowdhury, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Abu Bakkar Siddique, and Ashraful Islam. These officials underscored the importance of the incentives in empowering farmers and enhancing agricultural sustainability in the region.
