Dhaka: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin informed Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus that the Election Commission (EC) is fully prepared to conduct the national polls and a referendum on the same day in the first half of February next year. This announcement was made during a briefing about the preparations for the upcoming national election and referendum.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC, along with other Election Commissioners, met Professor Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna to discuss the progress of the preparations. The CEC expressed gratitude to the Chief Adviser for his cooperation during this preparatory phase and extended thanks to law enforcement agencies and the armed forces for their support.
During the meeting, Nasir Uddin highlighted the active engagement of citizens in election-related activities, which has fostered a nationwide electoral atmosphere. The Chief Adviser expressed satisfaction with the EC's progress and assured continued government support to ensure a fair and impartial election. Professor Yunus emphasized the importance of reaching the desired outcome for this long-awaited election and reaffirmed the interim government's commitment to delivering a successful electoral process.
Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmad, Md Anwarul Islam Sarker, and Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, along with Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed, were present at the meeting. National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Chief Adviser's Principal Secretary M Siraz Uddin Miah also attended the discussions.
