Kishoreganj: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain today emphasized the importance of students focusing on acquiring genuine knowledge rather than studying solely to pass exams. He highlighted that knowledge-based quality education is crucial for building a better future.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Touhid made these remarks during a view-exchange meeting held at the Magura High School premises in Kishoreganj Upazila of Nilphamari. The event was organized by Magura High School and chaired by its Headmaster Md Abdul Kuddus. In his address, Touhid encouraged students to participate in sports, cultural activities, and mental development programs to complement their academic pursuits.
The meeting was attended by various dignitaries including Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Nairuzzaman, Nilphamari Police Superintendent AFM Tariq Hossain Khan, and former Assistant Headmaster Kshitish Chandra Roy. Former student Md Mohiuddin Azad also delivered a speech as a guest.
Touhid highlighted the significant progress made in women's education over the last six decades, noting that women are now excelling in various fields across the country. He addressed teachers, urging them to focus on delivering quality education rather than merely increasing pass rates. He emphasized the responsibility of teachers to provide proper education to ensure the holistic development of students.
Parents were also advised to monitor their children's activities to prevent them from going astray. Touhid stressed the importance of spending time with children to alleviate feelings of loneliness and to foster a nurturing environment.
Discussing human resource development, Touhid underlined the necessity of transforming every citizen into a skilled human resource to aid the country's overall development. He pointed out the increasing demand for skilled workers abroad and urged those seeking opportunities overseas to focus on acquiring language and professional skills to enhance their earning potential.
