Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas today emphasized that BNP does not engage in making false promises solely for electoral gains. He addressed a views-exchange meeting with educators, officials, and local senior citizens from five educational institutions of Ward number 12 of the Dhaka South City Corporation at Abudharr Ghifari College in Malibagh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Abbas assured attendees of his commitment to the area, stating that unlike many candidates who disappear post-election, he remains connected due to his roots. Prayers were conducted for the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia during the event.
Mirza Abbas highlighted the absence of playgrounds and recreational facilities, attributing it to the Awami League's occupation of such spaces for building construction. He promised to liberate local playgrounds, parks, and clubs from political control if elected in the upcoming polls, citing that previous allocations for fields and recreational areas were seized by the Awami League. He stressed the emotional disconnect of those not originating from the area as a contributing factor.
He also addressed the issue of water logging in Dhaka, pointing out the illegal occupation of canals and blockage of drainage passages. He advocated for the liberation of these water bodies to mitigate the problem.
