Commission 100pc Prepared to Hold National Polls: EC Secretary

Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is now fully prepared to hold the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, announced Akhtar Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, during a training workshop for journalists on the national election. This workshop, organized at the Election Training Institute (ETI) in Agargaon, received support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Reporters Forum for Election and Democracy (RFED).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the EC Secretary stated that no specific date for the election schedule had been fixed yet. This follows remarks made earlier by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin during a mock voting inspection at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Girls' High School on November 29. The CEC expressed hope that the schedule for the national parliamentary election would be announced in the second week of December.

Furthermore, the CEC assured that the law and order situation in the country would continue to improve gradually, maintaining a conducive environment for the election.
